Hendaru Djumantoro has 22 years experience in finance and project management in Indonesia in the field of forestry and fisheries. In addition, Hendaru also has experience in the development of agricultural products. Hendaru specializes in building community-based companies (small firms) and developing business strategies, financial systems, and markets for products from natural resources, particularly organic products. He has a B.S. in Economy and Development Studies, Open University. From 1991 to 1995, he worked for Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) as a teller and was promoted as accounting staff from 1995 – 1997. He was further promoted as Deputy Director and Micro Finance Analyst from 1997 to 1999. Following this, and until 2004, Hendaru worked for Telapak as Finance Director. Simultaneously, Hendaru worked as Finance Management Consultant for PT Bahtera LEStari, a community-owned company based in Tejakula- Bali, Indonesia. The company operates a reef fishery, and is an exclusively non-cyanide marine ornamental exporter. From 2004 – 2007 Hendaru worked as corporate Secretary and finance directorvin PT Poros Nusantara Utama. He was promoted by PT Poros Nusantara West Java as Production Manager Finance Consultant Medical & Herbs West Java Cooperative to Project Manager for Income Generating Projects. During this period, he worked together with farmers groups who live around and in the borders of GunungHalimun - Salak and Gunung Gede - Pangranggo National Parks, to develop organic agricultural products including coffee, cardamom and java tea (a Traditional herbal tea). These products have obtained organic certification from the CU (Control Union), an international certification institution, and have been successfully exported to Europe.From 2008 – 2010 Hendaru was promoted again by PT Poros Nusantara Utama (PT PNU) as deputy director for finance and investment and have a special duty to operate PT PNU Yogyakarta, a company where the community forms the majority shareholders. Together with the community groups of the Menoreh mountains, Kulon Progo, Central Java, Hendaru support the successful building of a cooperative and a model of Sustainable Forest Management. The Cooperative has obtained certificate from the FSC-Smart Wood (Forest Stewardship Council).In 2011 He work as Finance & Administration Manager for Coral Triangle Center (CTC), an independent nonprofit foundation, based in Indonesia. CTC works to inspire leaders and communities to get involved in marine conservation. CTC provide the practical skills and knowledge they need to effectively care for the coastal ecosystems entrusted to them. He helped build Samdhana's financial systems in 2005.
