Maya Eralieva
Climate Change Policy and Governance

 

Maya Eralieva is a development specialist with expertise in project, policy and program monitoring of international financial institution operations in Central Asia and the Caucasus. With experience in international development work, yet rooted in good government and community-based advocacy, Maya is part of a growing democratization movement in the region. Since 2008, Maya has been Regional Policy Advisor and Senior Management Team member of the leading international civil society network monitoring the Asian Development Bank, the NGO Forum on the ADB. Maya has helped leverage compensation for impacted communities, lead campaigns that stop harmful development projects, halt the forced conversion of project financing from grants to loans, and raised monitoring and advocacy capabilities of civil society groups in the region on water, energy, climate, road, infrastructure, agriculture and education issues. Maya completed her higher education at the Department of International Relations, Kyrgyz National State University in 2001. After the 2005 revolution in the Kyrgyz Republic, Maya worked as Secretary for the Constitutional Council initiated by Kyrgyz civil society groups and she also helped coordinate natural and cultural heritage projects while working at National Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic for UNESCO.
