Dr. Hilly Ann Roa-Quiaoit is the Vice President of Research and Social Outreach at Xavier University and Associate Professor in the Biology Department at Xavier University. Dr. Roa-Quiaoit holds a doctoral degree in natural science from University of Bremen, a master's degree in marine science from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Philippines and a bachelor's degree in marine biology from Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. She specializes in marine biology and coastal management and is also interested in biodiversity and ecological assessment and management. She discovered a new species of giant clam in the Red Sea, named Tridacna costata (Roa-Quiaoit et al, 2008). Among her numerous publications is the co-authored works “State of the Coast: Macajala Bay, Misamis Oriental†in State of the Coast: Promoting the State of the Coastal Reporting, University of the Philippines (2010).
