Engaging our Community - The Philippine Stories

Posting Date

Samdhana is also the new Southeast Asia member of the Greengrants Alliance of Funds, in which capacity it administers its own grantmaking and fundraising programs.

The GGF Southeast Asia Advisory Board now merges with Samdhana to provide support to partners in Philippines, Indonesia, East Timor as well as the Mekong region.

We at Samdhana have received a lot of support from Greengrants, particularly institutional support. We see it as a partnership among equals, with each of us bringing different skills to the table.

We created Samdhana to provide space and support for fellows to do what they do best in the field of environmental justice.

Our contributions to the partnership with Global Greengrants include the chain of trust we have established, through our fellows and contacts, to our grantees. This increases accountability and the quality of reporting, by having the grant linked to people we know and trust.

In the Philippines, 11 communities are able to avail of the assistance which Samdhana has provided. Thru the Small Grants Program, Samdhana are able to fund grassroots initiatives up to approximately $5000 US. Grant focus on equitable access and control over natural resources.
