As part of capacity building in the Ecosystem Alliance (EA) Indonesia program, Samdhana Institute in conjunction with Wahana Bumi Hijau (WBH) from South Sumatra conducted a writing workshop in March.Facilitators Anggit Saranta and Rita Mustikasari shared experiences demonstrating how writing can be fun and effective for a variety of purposes.

"Writing is fun and easy. Everyone can write. Those who say it is difficult are fearful and lazy to write," said Anggit Saranta.

The staff of partner organizations can write popular articles for publication and also activity reports to partners and to inform the wider public.

"Writing is a way for individuals to reflect on theory and practice," said Rita Mustikasari.

Sigit Widagdo from WBH showed his appreciation for the workshop, and noted that South Sumatra has a rich literary tradition.

"Writing is a container to express greater appreciation and responsibility because it can become proof of a thought or fact," said Sigit Widagdo.

Sigid further emphasized that the workshop is important not only for WBH staff but also for the wider community in South Sumatra.Those who attended the workshop also gave positive feedback: attended Imelda Octarina, Benny Hidayat, Rizal Pulungan, Sarial Tamron, Sigid Widagdo, Prasetyo Widodo, Jadid Ulul Albab, Henni Martini and Adiosyafri who was present at the beginning of the discussion.

"With better writing I think it will be easier to achieve the next goal," said WBH staff Benny Hidayat who is focusing on the issue of peatlands.
