As part of the process of implementation of the project entitled Improving Governance for Sustainable Indigenous Community Livelihoods in Forested Areas, funded by the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF). Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN) held Field Supervision Visit to Talang Mamak, Riau Province.

Field Supervision Visit to Talang Mamak held on Sept 5th until Sept 9th 2014. Followed participants from JSDF, WB, AMAN, Chip Fay, SICoLIFe, one member of MTR consultants and Samdhana Location.

The development objective of the grant is to improve the livelihoods of 250 indigenous communities located in the ten main forest provinces, and to improve the capacity of indigenous communities to participate in, and benefit from, national and international forest policy developments.

The objective of the mission will be to preparation and initial implementation of planned activities to learn Talang Mamak as a model of how the SICoLIFe will contribute to indigenous peoples, especially in large scale participatory mapping.

Participants have discussion with community members on their experience in Cultural Based Land Use Planning and how to sustain their livelihood from their land and natural resources.
